This product contains iron, zinc, iodine (from seagreens), phosphatidyl Serine Powder (20% PS), MatchaBoost ™ (Matcha Green Tea, Theanine), Caffeine® and Gingko Biloba Extract. These ingredients work together to boost the cognitive function. It improves mental processes involved in the acquisition of knowledge, manipulation of information, and reasoning. It helps in enhancing the domains of perception, memory, learning, attention, decision making, and language abilities. It also boost the cognitive speed and helps prevent memory loss and mental decline. People who took the supplement scored higher on short-term memory, mood, and concentration tests.
More
Iron:
Iron deficiency, iron-deficiency anemia, and non-iron deficiency anemia may cause some cognitive deficits, but it remains unclear if those deficits are the same. These cognitive deficits may appear at any age. Levels of hemoglobin seem to correlate to cognitive performance, but iron supplementation improves cognitive functions regardless of the hemoglobin levels. Some of the known consequences of iron deficiency are reduced physical endurance, an impaired immune response, and temperature regulation difficulties, changes in energy metabolism, and in children, a decrease in cognitive performance as well as negative effects on behavior.
Iron status is a significant factor in cognitive performance in women of reproductive age. Severity of anemia primarily affects processing speed, and severity of iron deficiency affects accuracy of cognitive function over a broad range of tasks. Thus, the effects of iron deficiency on cognition are not limited to the developing brain.
Zinc:
Zinc plays a key role in regulation of neuronal glutamate signaling, suggesting a possible link between zinc and memory processes. Consistent with this, zinc deficiency causes cognitive impairments in children. Zinc plays an important role in axonal and synaptic transmission and is necessary for nucleic acid metabolism and brain tubulin growth and phosphorylation. Lack of zinc has been implicated in impaired DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis during brain development. Over three hundred enzymes, known as zinc metalloenzyme, depend on zinc for normal neuronal function the latter form of zinc may modulate responses in receptors for various neurotransmitters, both excitatory and inhibitory including the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) and -amino butyric acid (GABA) receptors.
Iodine (from seagreens):
Iodine is also essential for brain development during specific time windows influencing neurogenesis, neuronal and glial cell differentiation, myelination, neuronal migration, and synaptogenesis. About 1.5 billion people in 130 countries live in areas at risk of iron deficiencies (IDs). An iodine deficiency may affect your ability to learn and remember. A study including over 1,000 adults found that those with higher thyroid hormone levels performed better on learning and memory tests, compared to those with lower thyroid hormone levels. Iodine supplementation has improved perceptual reasoning in mildly iodine-deficient children and suggests that mild iodine deficiency could prevent children from attaining their full intellectual potential.
Phosphatidyl Serine Powder (20% PS):
Phosphatidylserine is a fatty substance produced in the body that covers and protects every cell in the body, and is involved in the clotting function of the body. It's particularly vital for the proper functioning of nerve cells within the brain, helping to transmit messages between them. As an essential component of healthy nerve cell membranes, phosphatidylserine is thought to have a key role in keeping your memory sharp as you get older. Studies in animals suggest that levels decline with age.
Phosphatidylserine is found naturally in certain foods and is also sold in dietary supplement form. Phosphatidylserine supplements are touted as a natural remedy for a variety of health conditions, including Attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Alzheimer's disease, anxiety, depression, multiple sclerosis and stress. In addition, phosphatidylserine supplements are purported to preserve memory, promote healthy sleep, improve mood, and enhance exercise performance.
Several studies with phosphatidylserine indicate improved cognitive abilities and behaviors. Phosphatidylserine is taken to try to prevent memory loss and mental decline that may occur as you get older. Several studies suggest that it may boost your brain power. People who took the supplement scored higher on short-term memory, mood, and concentration tests.
MatchaBoost ™ (Matcha Green Tea, Theanine):
Matcha's nutritional properties act as a natural nootropic that not only boosts your cognitive functions such as memory, concentration, attention, and motivation but it also makes the brain healthier by acting as a vasodilator and natural supplement for brain health that increases energy and oxygen flow to the brain. Matcha Green Tea Powder contains a variety of active ingredients beneficial to health, such as tea catechins, lutein and vitamin K. It is also known that these ingredients confer benefits upon cognitive functions of elderly people. In addition, L-theanine does some amazing things when paired with caffeine, à la matcha — the amino acid can help improve cognitive function and increase focus and alertness.
Caffeine®:
Caffeine facilitates performance in tasks involving working memory to a limited extent, but hinders performance in tasks that heavily depend on working memory, and caffeine appears to rather improve memory performance under suboptimal alertness conditions. Most studies, however, found improvements in reaction time. The caffeine acts as a mild stimulant to the central nervous system. Studies have shown that, depending on level of intake, caffeine can help to improve mental performance, especially on alertness, attention and concentration. Caffeine consumption reduces the risk of cognitive decline, dementia, and ADHD.
Gingko Biloba Extract:
Ginkgo biloba extracts (GBEs) have been recommended to improve cognitive function and to prevent cognitive decline. Researchers believe that ginkgo improves cognitive function because it promotes good blood circulation in the brain and protects the brain and other parts from neuronal damage. While some evidence suggests that ginkgo extract might modestly improve memory in healthy adults, most studies indicate that ginkgo doesn't improve memory, attention or brain function. Ginkgo improves blood flow to the brain and acts as an antioxidant. These effects may translate into some benefits for certain medical problems, but the results have been mixed.
Some studies have found that in healthy people, ginkgo might modestly boost memory and cognitive speed. Other studies have not found a benefit. Several ginkgo studies have shown that it can help with memory problems caused by dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. It seems to help prevent the progression of dementia symptoms, especially if the dementia is thought to be the result of atherosclerotic vascular disease. Researchers have studied ginkgo for many other conditions, including ADHD, depression and other psychological conditions, multiple sclerosis, and tinnitus from a vascular origin. Some people are also using ginkgo to prevent high altitude sickness, though studies have not yet established that it’s effective for that. Many uses of ginkgo show promise, but more research needs to be done.
